We can organise outdoor well-being days for a range of groups including neurodivergent adults, young people, women (inclusive), carers, parents (including special days for adopters and foster carers) and others! If you have an idea get in touch and see if we can help!
Well-being days are usually spent at our forest school/bushcraft site unless we have a walk or another activity planned. It will be a group of a maximum of 10-12 people including the organisers. The days are flexible but typically start between 9:30 and 10 and end around 4 depending on what we have planned!
Days are for you to make it work for you! There will be a relaxed structure and a plan but you can also do your own thing. It may be you want some quiet space on your own, that you want to have a go at lots of different things, bring something to share, or that you want to spend time chatting to others.
We will normally start with some time around the fire for a drink and you can introduce yourself (or not) make a wood cookie badge, explore the site, sit quietly or think about what you want to get out of the day and share (or not!).
We will then have a range of activities to try on your own terms this might include fire lighting , pyrography, wax stamping, pewter smelting, nature based crafts, whittling, tool use, making and drawing with charcoal. You may choose to sit quietly, write, meditate or go for a walk. Some days may include opportunities to join a shared project like willow weaving. If there is something you definitely want to do let us know when you register! We can send you more details about the day including info sheets and an intro video closer to the day.
When we get hungry we will share a simple vegetarian lunch that that we can prepare together on the fire! Bringing your own lunch is ok too.
After lunch we will continue with our activities or go for a walk. You can try out a walking meditation or join others for a chat. In the end we can stop in at the pub for anyone who has any energy left in their social battery!
The day is open to anyone who feels this is the right place for them! Anyone who identifies as a woman or as non binary is welcome. Those diagnosed as autistic, ADHD or other neurodivergence are welcome. Self identification is accepted and valid as well as those who are exploring their possible neurodivergence. The organisers (Aimee and Tara) are neurodivergent women.
We aim to provide a neurodivergent affirming environment to support everyone to take their masks off and be themselves. It is ok however you turn up and whatever you have to offer. You can let us know on the registration form if you have any specific sensory, communication or other differences that might help us to know how to help you get the most out of the day. There will be badges available for those who want to use them so you can indicate if you would rather be quiet and have some space or if you want to chat but may want someone else to initiate.
The cost of the day is dependent on the activities included in the day but is typically £40 per person which includes all of the resources for the activities, lunch and hot drinks. Some activities (E.g. pewter smelting have an additional £10 fee to cover the materials).
We are a not for profit/profit for good organisation. All fees go back into the organisation to support future activities. We are applying for grants to support a sliding scale to ensure everyone can take part despite their ability to pay. If this interests you let us know on the registration form below.
